Richard Roth has been in the computer field since 1968 and has been involved in development and marketing software products for personal and larger computers since 1977. He is an expert in software product design and in cross-platform computer technology; has written numerous software products and articles and given many speeches for technical and user groups. He has been a user of the Internet and on-line services from their inception and started On-the-Net, in 1994 to apply the collected experience of himself and a number of experts to develop practical business uses of the Internet, including starting ISPs and developing complex web sites.
In 2001, he was instrumental in starting Hidden-tech, as a board member. web site and emailing list manager. The group has grown to include over 2,000 techies and tech-users, mostly in the Pioneer valley and western Mass, with a world wide following (still going strong in 2024)
He started TNR Global in 2005 to develop more complex web site technology, including the Thomas Register THOMASNET.com site of industrial companies.
Since 2000, He and Sharon, developed their interest in the Shakers through various trips and seminars, and then creation of Shakerpedia. A mediawiki based wikipedia exploring and collecting the history and other information about the Shakers. Originated in Manchester, England in 1747 and moved to the United States in 1776. The Shakers are basically a religions group with over 20 settlements, mostly farming, 10s of thousands of members and hundreds of innovations.
Since 2010, he has semi retired and been involved in various projects supporting the arts in the world, We Love Museums.com and Franklin county : Fostering Arts and Culture project, Creative Economy Summit, and the Greenfield Local Cultural council.
