By one’s bootstraps is satire

A recent option by Tolley describes the historical leadup of people of color in the USA, as specifically relates to her personal experience and how it’s possible, some times, to mediate the results. In her closing notes, she does get caught in a classic description of “pulling one’s self up by your boot straps”. Not only is it physically impossible (which as an engineer I can confirm), BUT it actually based on a spoof from the 1800s –
