Rich,

In my web page, I have an order form that allows the customers to enter various input values such as
name, address, email id, credit card information etc. I will add validation logic using Javascript. Following is my psuedo logic for the order form validation:

  1. Validate for non-null values in the Name, Address, Zip code, etc. If any fields that need to be filled are empty then alert the user to the missing input,
focus the input to the corresponding text field.
  2. Validate for correct email id. Do not allow the email id input to have invalid characters. Make sure it follows certain valid format.
  3. Validate for proper credit card information. Make sure it does not have non numeric characters.
  4. Validate for expiry date such that the year is >=0 and <=99.
  5. Validate for proper zip codes. Make sure 5 numeric digits are given.
  6. Calculate the cost per product item when the user specifies the product cost and quantity. Multiply the product cost by quantity to calculate the product items cost.
  7. Calculate the total cost of all orderdered items. Sum up all product item costs.

I hope you find this meets the javascript usage requirements in your assignment. If not, can you please suggest things I can add to this.

Regarding my earlier proposal, I had misunderstood from the assignment description that we had to generate a separate form in a new window using javascript as part of the assignment.

Thanks again,

Netra
